JK Harris family helps one of its own

Recently, our company took on a project that couldn’t have made me any prouder to be associated with our 500 employees.  One of our employees suffered a swimming pool accident several years ago and is a quadriplegic, confined to a wheelchair.  This employee has been with us since the early beginnings of JK Harris.

Needless to say, over the years, he has become one of the most beloved employees in our company.  He also has gained the respect of his fellow employees because despite what some may consider a disability, this employee doesn’t make excuses and works as effectively and efficiently as anyone else.  In addition, he doesn’t look for special considerations and longs to be treated the same as everyone else.

However, this employee had a special need, and our employees stepped up the plate and hit a home run.  We raised over $51,000 to help this employee purchase a new van for his special transportation needs.  These vehicles are priced in the $75,000 to $125,000 range and more, depending on the options included.  Our employee will put the money his fellow employees donated and JK Harris matched together with help he will receive from the state of South Carolina to purchase a new, safe, reliable, dependable van.

When one of our own needed help, our employees showed their true colors and came to his side to assist him.  Talk about a good feeling inside…No doubt about that!

I’d like to take a minute today and discuss something with you I found when going through some recent reports from my management team.  Over the last year, we have prepared more than 65,000 tax returns for our customers.  While we do not boast that we are a tax preparation company, we offer these services to our customers because in order to be considered for a settlement with the IRS a customer must be current on all tax return filings. 

So, I looked a little deeper into the numbers and what I found out was that these 65,000 tax returns belong to approximately 15,000-20,000 of our customers for this year alone!  You’re probably wondering right now what is my point…Well, my point is this:  If it weren’t for companies like JK Harris that offers services to represent taxpayers before the IRS, there would be a lot less people getting back into compliance with the Federal Government.  JK Harris alone has basically placed 20,000 taxpayers back into system where the government wants them — filing their current and past due tax returns.  Plus, the lives of these thousands of taxpayers just started getting a lot better.  That’s not a bad mission for any company.  Thanks and chat with you soon.
